Ken asks…

Where can I buy gold as an investment?

I live in Los Angeles. Can you buy it online? How does this work? Will I actually get a FEDEX shipment with the actual gold? or, will I have to go pick it up somewhere?

Please be specific and give me names of serious companies you have bought gold from; and give me as many tips as possible.

I know nothing about how to invest in gold, and I have a few K’s that I don’t want to keep in the bank anymore.

Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience

The Kitco folks are well established and will ship you gold if you prefer.
You may pay fees for shipping and insurance. Even if you don’t buy from them, their site is interesting reading.

Also lookup a coin shop in LA. Some coin shops sell bullion coins, for example, krugerrands. Bullion coins are not rare, they are valued for their precious metal content.

Chris asks…

Investing help please.?

If you buy currencies(forex)online you are not buying anything in fact,if you buy oil or gold online you aren’t really buying a barrel of oil or a case or gold..well you get the picture. But what if you buy stocks online, are you in fact a owner of these stocks or is it the same as with oil?

financi4 answers:

When you are buying oil futures you are buying a contract to buy oil at a future date at a certain price. Most futures contract are sold before they expire. During the time if the oil prices rises, your contract rises in value. When you buy stocks, you become a shareholder of the company. Yes. You actually own a piece of the company.

Paul asks…

I do not know much about gold or investing from what i have read online it seems like a good investment.
What do i need to know about investing in gold? Is it a safe investment? Is now a bad time to by gold? Whats the situation on gold investment?
The reason i chose gold sovereign because its something i can lock away keep safe and it seems like a good investment. I like investing in something i can own take home and keep safe. I would not want to invest overseas like they did with the Icelandic banks and lost everything.
