William asks…

I have heard that america is about to strike it rich? OIL RICH! ?

Who should i invest in to take advantage of this possible gold mine?
Fright the left! Again! Are you serious! Yea i want to buy barrels of oil… WOW ever heard of stocks my man?
Haha well someone in some country is right smart guy we will see when i am reeping the rewards from my investment and you are sitting back crying because you have no money…

financi4 answers:

You “heard” that “someone” in “some country” *might* do “something” *someday*?

Wow, that sounds like a really hot tip. I would definitely jump all over that!

EDIT: hey, i don’t see me sitting around crying anytime soon. I’ve been doing this for a little bit now – i’m way ahead of the game, and i’ve still got another 50+ years of living to do.

Oil exploration is too long-term. It costs too much, and takes too long to monetize. That’s why oil companies still get government subsidies. I prefer mid-term (1-3 yrs) investments which should at least triple my capital. And these days, there are plenty of opportunities like that. No need to do something because you heard that something might someday happen when you were watching the nightly news.

James asks…

Will a foreigner get shot at for prospecting gold in Alaska?

I’m from Europe, I want to invest some of my money in mining equipment and prospect for gold in Alaska, but I just wonder if US citizens will shoot at me for trying to dig out gold, because the economy is in a ramshackle? Is it safe as long as I have all the formal documents and is there legally, will the citizens still shoot at me?

financi4 answers:

As long as it is legal and you are not a jerk then no one will shoot you. Alaskans are actually really nice and as long as you spend money at the local store they will be very helpful. There will be some that hang around wanting to help and give advice (many people still gold mine in the summer as a source of income) and others you will never know exist but if you spend money locally you will be fine. I know of several small towns that were stopped form vanishing by outsiders coming and mining. They employed locals and kept the store running.
